This secret Christmas

Christmas can be a rather public mash-up of people trying to gain your attention.
Retailers are competing for a bit of your wallet with their expensive ads.
Media outlets are wheeling out their brightest and best to gain your festive attention.
Bloggers, like me, we doff our caps and beg a moment of your time.
While family and friends are desperate to see you at social gatherings…
...which all may be very lovely.
(Though nightmares are not unknown.)
But amid the public claims and demands, the seasonal battlefields and beauty, I hope you find a secret Christmas.
A secret Christmas inside yourself, of joy and hope…a dissolving of fear, a spark of vitality, however it arrives.
It could be on a walk, sitting in bed, or in the kitchen.
It could be in a card, in a face, or in the sky.
It could be something said, something given or something understood.
It’s just a moment – a second, a minute, an hour - amid the merry mash-up.
But it’s your secret Christmas, it spills peace, dissolves fear, gives energy, changes the scenery…
...it’s the reason why you journeyed to this ageless Christmas scene.
