the one minute mystic
How to use the meditations

1. Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.

2. Read through the whole meditation a few times, then put it down.

3. Sit in a position both comfortable and alert.

4. Allow the meditation 10 minutes or so in your imagination. Do not give up before this time; stay with it.

5. Allow another 10 minutes for recording what happened. Allow events to develop as you record.
  MEDITATION 27
THE EMPTY BOWL

I have an empty bowl.

I bought it to be empty, and have never put anything inside it.

I prefer my bowl empty, like the universe before time began – spilling with space and possibility.

A full bowl looks good, but can be dull, because all the space is spoken for. What else can be there? Things are lodged, clogged and closed.

Consider

Find an empty bowl and hold it.

What strikes you about it?

How does it appear? Does it have a mood?

Imagine

And now you are an empty bowl.

What sort of a bowl? Colourful? Plain? Large? Small? Cracked?

And where are you put?

How does it feel to be empty?

Liberating? Unsettling? Wonderful? Strange? Desperate?

Perhaps someone is coming to fill you? Do you look forward to that?

What would you like to contain?

Or are you happy with how things are?
