How to use the meditations
1. Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
2. Read through the whole meditation a few times, then put it down.
3. Sit in a position both comfortable and alert.
4. Allow the meditation 10 minutes or so in your imagination. Do not give up before this time; stay with it.
5. Allow another 10 minutes for recording what happened. Allow events to develop as you record. |

MEDITATION 28
AN UNFORTUNATE SENSE OF "I"
There is a sense of our selves which is spirit: pure, curious and happy, like a delighted child.
Like a mountain stream, this spirit bubbles with life and wonder, and is extremely good company.
We say goodbye to this child, however, when we allow our selves to become entangled with our thoughts, and start identifying with them.
When this happens, a sense of "I" or "me" creeps into our dealings with people; a sense of entitlement, claim and offence.
When we identify our selves with our thoughts (which are not the same at all) we fall asleep to who we are. We become both unhappy and dangerous.
Identify with the delighted child, and let go of your thoughts, with a chuckle...
Consider
Consider your life at present.
Be honest. Is there anything you feel negative about? Anything about which you feel upset, resentful or angry?
Is there a feeling of "I" or "me" in there?
What have you gained from this state?
What have you lost?
