They’re on the beach
They’re in the sea
They’re wrapped up, stripped off,
In a few clothes, in hardly any clothes, look away now
(Different rules in the summer by the sea)
They’re swimming, shouting, sleeping, eating, preening, sun-creaming, sun-soaking, paddle-boarding, chit-chatting, ice-cream eating, horizon-gazing, navel-gazing, sandwich-chewing, drink-swigging, deck-chairing humanity on holiday
When it’s here and it’s now and nothing else matters
Which is rest for the soul
As the waves break gentle and the seagulls soar and the summer hits sing
The soul at rest… when nothing else matters but now
